In my opinion, it’s very important to get vaccinated, here is more about the free Flu jab for 2020.
With a second-wave of Covid-19 expected to hit during Flu season this winter, the Government has extended the annual free Flu vaccination scheme in England to reach more people.
The minimum eligible age has decreased from 65 to 50. Children in year 7 at high school will now be eligible, previously it was primary school-aged only.
The most interesting addition to the eligibility, from my point of view; is that anyone who is on the shielding list and their household members can get a free flu jab for 2020!
The Covid-19 shielding list eligibility was originally drawn up based on whether you qualified for the free flu vaccination. Over time the list evolved as more groups were added and individuals by their GP or specialists. These extra people on the list would normally have to get special permission from their GP for the Flu jab. In some cases, this means waiting to see if any free NHS jabs are left after everyone else is processed.
Your GP should contact you about your Flu vaccination but it is important to speak up if you feel you may have been forgotten. You may have been added to the shielding list without your GP’s knowledge.
If you are not eligible for a free Flu Jab it is possible to purchase one at Boots. The private Boots Flu vaccination cost £12.99 in 2019.
